Drumming Circle

Drumming can change your life

Ever wondered why the beat of the drum carries you away or just wondered what all the fuss was about?

Drumming CircleEver wanted to connect more deeply into sound and the healing energy it brings?

Or maybe you’d just like to try something different?

Drumming has been used for eons in many cultures – both ancient and new –  as a tool for changing perception, for healing, for dance and for ceremony.

Sitting in the Circle

Within this sacred drumming space we will take you on a journey through different drum rhythms and shamanic drumming.

You will discover rhythms from Arabia, Egypt, Africa and Irish Celtic backgrounds and enjoy long sessions of being immersed in the drumming of the group, experience drum journeying and meditation and enjoy the healing of being within a drum circle filled with sound.

Here is a sample of what we get up to in circle

Megan’s Journey

Megan tells me “Every week, when I was 16, I would go to belly dancing with my Mum and watch from the corner of the room as the ladies shimmied their night away, listening to the darabuka drum beat. Until one evening when the drummer offered lessons, my world changed and I immediately signed up.

That was the start of my journey in drumming which led me to play drum at festivals and other belly dancing meets around Australia’

That was just the beginning of Megan’s journey with the drums, starting with the Arabic rhythms on the darabuka, then after spending some time living in Ireland, the Celtic rhythms of the bodhran were absorbed into her drum practice through a love of folk music and dance.

Following this she came to England and became involved in Morris dancing and the playing of drums there too.
